What do you do and what do you love about it?

I’m a children’s book author and illustrator.

I love it because I’m a fan of the craft, so getting to earn a living as an adult by telling the type of stories I loved reading as a child is the best version of a dream job I could ever wish for.

What motivates and inspires you?

The stories, mythology and wealth of experiences that can be found across the Black diaspora are a massive source of inspiration for me. Not only do these things inform my work, they also inspire me In real life. My goal is to try and document as much of it as I can over the span of my career. I love exploring Black childhood in my work, and trying to show the variety of experiences that can be found there. Thats what motivates me.
